Kate Dey... who am I?

Welcome to my website, where I will explain a little about myself, my work and my interests. I hope you also enjoy my photographs of nature and learn some new exciting facts about plants and animals from my blog posts.

SCIENCE

For as long as I can remember, I have been captivated by the natural environment and have always asked questions about how things work and why things happen. I enjoy finding our about all manner of scientific information, from how our bodies function, to astronomy, and to animal behaviour. My core passion is wildlife conservation, which lead me to study Biology at university and to take advantage of some fantastic research opportunities.

COMMUNICATION

In addition to my scientific mindset, I possess a strong creative side and enjoy thinking of interesting concepts and original ways of doing things. I take great joy in communicating scientific information and also helping others, which is reason for my experience in a variety of communication posts. In my own time, I demonstrate my creativity by writing songs and playing them at open mic evenings. On country walks, I also enjoy taking photographs of wildlife.

ADVENTURE

I thoroughly enjoy a challenge and trying new things. At the age of 18 I had already completed two solo parachute jumps, sailed the channel and gained a diving qualification. Furthermore, I had also gained basic rock climbing and kayaking qualifications and completed an RYA sailing course. In 2012, I traveled to Ecuador, including a solo trip to the Galapagos Islands. I particularly enjoy sailing, sea kayaking and running.
